Pulitzer prize 2023 # Current affairs of the month of May 2023

The 2023 winners of the Pulitzer prize winner were announced on 4th May in a virtual health ceremony. the Pulitzer prizes in journalism were first awarded in 1917 and are considered the most prestigious honours in journalism.

The 2023 awards were presented in 15 journalism categories and 7 awards in book drama and music categories. The wh`inner list included 5 names from India. The associated press photographer Dar Yasin, Mukhtar Khan, Channi Anand won the award for feature photography category for coverage of Kashmir.

the three photographers were recognised for their strike images on Jammu and Kashmir after the state special status was revoked in August last year.

Marcos was appointed as the new president of BRICS bank.

The former deputy economy minister of Brazil Marcos will replace k.V.Kamath of India as President of the new Development Bank or BRICS.

New development Bank or BRICS Bank was established in 2015 by BRICS members to assist the emerging economies in infrastructure development loans. the bank operates with the subscribed capital of dollar 50 billion equally shared among the five member countries.

  • the bank is headquartered in Shanghai Vitran Bank k.v Kamath who was appointed as the first President of ndb in 2015.

Vijay Mallya lost an appeal in UK court; faces extradition.

Indian businessman Vijay Mallya lost his right to appeal in UK supreme court against his extradition order after his appeal was rejected by the London High court.

the high court upheld an extradition order issued by the lower court and certified by the British government the London High court latest ruling will go back for recertification.

the process of extradition is expected to be triggered within 28 days India may finally succeed in getting Mallya back to face trial in the country which has now just one escape route left from his extradition to India. European court of human rights can apply for interim relief from the European court of human rights.

however, if Mallya fails to get the interim relief he will have to be extended to India within 28 days starting from May 14th this month.

the scheme was inaugurated by chief minister Bhupesh Baghel on 21st May the death anniversary of the former prime minister Rajiv Gandhi.

under the scheme, the government will provide direct cash of rupees 10000 per acre to the paddy and maize growing farmers and rupees 13004 acres to the sugarcane farmers the scheme is expected to benefit over 1.87 billion farmers.

Gas leak at Vizag # Current affairs of the month of May 2023

This month witnessed is an unfortunate passing away of three prominent personalities. hockey legend Balbir Singh senior famous astrologer Bejan Daruwalla and former Chhattisgarh chief minister Ajit Jogi.

  • Balbir Singh senior won 3 Olympic gold medals in 1948 1952 1956 he was the captain of 1956 Olympic team.

Bejan Daruwalla was a well-known astrologer who combine the principles of various technic like Vedic astrology, numerology, palmistry tarot, even Western astrology for his prediction.

Ajit Jogi was the former IAS officer who became the first chief minister of Chhattisgarh he was chief minister of Chhattisgarh from 2000 to 2003.
