Pulitzer prize 2023 # Current affairs of the month June 2021

The Pulitzer Prize for journalism of the Year 2023 as announced on 12th June the Pulitzer prize is awarded every year in 21 categories related to news reporting and journalism.

→ Two Indian origin journalists Megha Rajagopalan and Neel Bedi have won the Pulitzer prize for 2023.

Megha Rajagopalan a journalist working for BuzzFeed news won the award under the international reporting category.

  • Anil Bedi from Tampa bay time won awards in the local reporting category.

International Booker Prize 2023.

French writer David Diop won the prestigious international booker prize for his novel ” at night all blood is Black “.

  • the Book translator by anna Moschovakis won one-half of the 50000 pounds prize money the book at night all blood is black tells the story of two soldiers from Senegal fighting for the French in World war 1.

Jamsetji Tata Is the World’s Top ‘Philanthropist of the country’

with total donations of 102.4 billion dollars, India’s Jamshed Ji Tata has topped the 2021 hurun philanthropist of the century. the list to the ranking of the world’s most philanthropical individuals from the past century and this is the first year of the ranking.

  • bill and Melinda gates the most respected names in philanthropy Run second with donations worth 74.6 billion dollars.
  • the total donations from the world most generous individual in the last century stood that 832 billion dollars.

Retired IAS officer Anup Chandra Pandey was appointed as the new election commissioner the chief election commissioner Sushil Chandra.

Justice Arun Kumar Mishra was appointed as the new chairman of NHRC.

The national human right commission is an autonomous institution created in 1993.it conducts enquiries into complaints of abuse and human rights violations by a public servant state or his agency.

justice Arun Mishra is the retired judge of the supreme court this is the first time someone’s other a former chief justice of India has been appointed to the post of NHRC chairperson.

PM Modi met Leaders From J & K.

prime minister Narendra Modi held an all-party meeting with the leaders of Jammu and Kashmir on 24th June.

  • This was his first direct engagement with G &K in almost 2 years since the revocation of article 370.

→ the meeting was attended by 14 leaders from 8 political parties among those who attended the meeting were former chief ministers are Faruq Abdullah and Omar Abdullah of the National Conference, Ghulam Nabi Azad of Congress and Mehbooba Mufti of the people’s democratic party.

the meeting show opposition leaders venting their unhappiness over the manner in which J & k Was Split, downgraded into Two Union territory and also the way of the political leaders Were Jailed.

  • during the meeting, PM Modi assured the valleys readers that his government was committed to providing the democratic process to assembly elections as early as possible and sought their participation in the limitation exercise.

the meeting was also attended by the Union Home minister Amit Shah and the literature governor of Jammu and Kashmir Manoj Sinha.

Union government approves Pradhan Mantri Garib Kalyan Yojana 4.0

The central government has approved the allocation of additional food grain to beneficiaries under the fourth phase of Pradhan Mantri Garib Kalyan Yojana till 30th November.

  • the decision was taken during a cabinet meeting chaired by prime minister Narendra Modi.

prime minister Modi announced that they will be extended by 5 months and additional 200 lakh metric tons of food grains will be provided to around 80 crore beneficiaries with an estimated cost of sixty-seven thousand crores.

this free of cost allocation of food grains will be over and about the regular monthly food-grade Pradhan Mantri Garib Kalyan Yojana was initially launched for 2 months in May and June 2022 this is the fourth phase of the skin which will extend Diwali.

Naftali Bennett becomes the new prime minister of Israel.

Naftali Bennett was elected as the new prime minister of Israel on 14 June Naftali Bennett won by a narrow majority of 6059 in the Israeli parliament.

The voting also ended the twelve-year rules of prime minister Benjamin Netanyahu. the 49 years old Naftali Bennett is a former Ally of benjamin Netanyahu.

  • Naftali Bennett will preside over a fragile coalition comprised of eight parties.

Ebrahim Raisi Elected as the new president of Iran. # Current affairs of the month June 2023

the chief justice of Iran Ibrahim Raisi won the presidential election to become the new President of Iran.

the 16-year-old cleric Ibrahim rising was appointed head of the judiciary in 2022 Raisi is considered hard-line and hold the ultra-conservative view.

Raisi will take office in early August replacing President Hassan Rouhani who was not allowed by the constitution to run for a third consecutive term President is the second-highest posted in Iran after the supreme leader Ayatollah Khamenei.

Brazil suspended the Covaxin deal with India.

Brazil suspended a 324 million dollar contract with Bharat biotech for 20 million doses of Covaxin following recommendations by the country’s controller general.

a daily Brazil health regulator also suspended ko vaccines emergency use application writing incomplete paperwork provided Bharat biotech.

  • Brazil decision to suspend the contract with Bharat biotech comes amid allegations of bribery and corruption.

The Covaxin contract became the main focus of the parliamentary enquiry commission which is investigating the handling of pandemics by the Brazilian government.
